RU was born in 1969 with the opening of The Red Baron, a steak and
lobster house in Seattle. The restaurant opened in response to a new
trend in the restaurant business: fine food in a casual atmosphere.
With the opening of The Red Baron, Rich Komen, RU's Founder and
Chairman, laid the foundation for what would be a continuing story of the
successful application of creative restaurant concepts to the changing
needs and desires of America's dining public. Of course, there's more.
